Fungal Pathogen Isolation Services Fungal Pathogen Cultivation Services Applications Why Choose Us?

The incidence of animal diseases caused by fungal pathogens is steadily increasing each year, significantly impacting animal health and safety. However, the proportion of veterinary fungal pathogens that have been recognized and characterized is extremely low about the total fungal diversity. The isolation and cultivation of fungi continue to be essential prerequisites for the discovery, diagnosis, and treatment of fungal infections in animals. BioVenic is dedicated to offering tailored veterinary fungal pathogen isolation and cultivation services to clients, aiming to provide comprehensive solutions for veterinary fungal pathogens.

Veterinary Fungal Pathogen Isolation Services

We offer isolation services for various animal species, including companion animals, livestock, and others. Our services cover infected tissues, excreta, digestive contents, and soil samples. Depending on the sample type, we primarily provide surface spread and dilution-based isolation services.

Surface Spread Isolation

This service is particularly suitable for animal tissue samples. We gently spread the sample surface with a sterile cotton swab or wipe, and then transfer it onto a plate containing an appropriate culture medium. After colonies have grown on the plate, we pick fungal hyphae or individual colonies for further subculturing and purification.

Dilution-Based Isolation

Our dilution-based isolation services are typically used for soil samples, digestive contents, and animal excreta. To obtain spores or fragments of fungal hyphal on the surface of the sample, we shake it vigorously in sterile water containing 5% Tween and spread different dilutions of the suspension out on a culture medium. After colonies have grown, we pick fungal hyphae or individual colonies and transfer them 2-3 times to obtain purified strains.

Veterinary Fungal Pathogen Cultivation Services

Different fungal pathogens may have varying requirements for temperature, humidity, light exposure, nutrients, and culture media. We tailor our cultivation services according to the specific requirements of our clients. For unknown fungal pathogens, we offer cultivation services based on Pan-fungal medium (PF). For targeted cultivation of known fungi, we provide cultivation services using various specialized media.

Birdseed Agar Cultivation: Suitable for assisting clients in cultivating Cryptococcus neoformans. Inhibitory Mold Agar (IMA) Cultivation: Help clients cultivate fungi while inhibiting bacterial growth.
Brain-heart Infusion Agar Cultivation: Appropriate for helping clients cultivate fungi that have strict growth conditions, such as Histoplasma capsulatum and Blastomyces dermatitidis. Mycosel & Mycobiotic Agar Cultivation: Assists clients in the highly selective cultivation of various pathogenic fungi.
Chromagar Candida Medium Cultivation: Used to assist clients in cultivating various Candida species. Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) Cultivation: Helpful for customers to culture pathogenic fungi that require slide preparation.
Cornmeal Agar & Cornmeal Tween Agar Cultivation: Utilized for clients requiring differential cultivation of C. albicans. Potato Flake Agar Cultivation: Cultivates saprophytic and pathogenic fungi for clients.
Czapek-dox Agar Cultivation: Used to assist clients in the identification and cultivation of Aspergillus and Penicillium species. Rice Starch Agar Cultivation: Aids clients in cultivating Candida albicans producing chlamydospores.
Dermatophyte Test Medium (DTM) Cultivation: Aids clients in cultivating primary and differentiated fungal pathogens for dermatophytes. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) Cultivation: Used for the growth and maintenance of various important fungal pathogens.
